こんにちは !

And good morning Reader!

And welcome to our second out of schedule newsletter :)

And the reason it is delayed by a day is because yesterday I was on plane to Tokyo 🇯🇵

I'll tell you all about it, and share as much art and inspiration as I can!

I'm taking you for 2 weeks across Japan!

As I said last week, for my vacation I'll be exploring Japan for 2 weeks with my partner, and I'm super excited to share this with you :)

Worry not, this is not a travel newsletter; we will not go over what I think of the hotels I stay at or which restaurants I recommend, but instead share with you all the art and inspiration I come across during my stay.

And it starts with my plane flight, the longest one I have ever taken in my life!

To avoid jet lag, we were planning to not sleep and spend the time watching movies and draw; but that was naive of us. Turns out it's very hard to do sketch when you're very tired and all the lights are off!

Here is a little page of my sketchbook I can show you:

I had saved those pictures in advance to draw!

This one is in Fukuoka if my research are correct, a city we will unfortunately not visit, so I was okay drawing it in advance :)

But on top of that, it's crazy how similar it is to one of my illustration, "Make the World your Garden"! This is definitely my vibe I admit 💛

Ghibli Appreciation 🌿

Unrelated to the trip, but there was something else I wanted to share!

In preparation for the trip we have been watching/rewatching Ghibli movies with my partner; and what a great time we had each time!

But I've been especially impressed by Arrietty, which I never saw before nor heard much about. The movie is absolutely stunning, so I took some screenshots to show you! 🌱

(we also watched Princess Monoke in the plane, and I teared up a bit 💛)

My very first day in Japan 🏯

As I'm writing this, I haven't yet spend a full day in Tokyo, but here are some of my first pictures!

As you know, I love to put a lot of details in my illustration; and I'm often very frustrated when I cannot find high resolution pictures for reference.

And that's why I decided to buy an used camera in Japan! We had to search a lot to find the right model for my relatively small budget, but we managed :)

I have yet to try it fully, and I'll need to be home to transfer them to my laptop, but I'll do my best to take good pictures to share with you when I'm back!

That's it for this very special edition of the newsletter! Thank you for being here, I'm excited to share my adventures with you next week :)

Take care,
- Nighten
